Author’s note
This work is an experiment in connecting the four canonical Gospels into one narrative. The content of the work consists only of words and phrases found in the four Gospels; consequently the resulting text is entirely assembled from the canonical Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Hence its name: “United Gospel”. As a source material, we have used the King James Version of the Bible. In some cases, explanatory words were added for clarity, even though they are not found in the King James Version; such words are in brackets.
To align the four Gospels, the tables of synoptic parallels were used. The alignment was based on the Gospel Synopsis from the Orthodox Bible, which reproduces a related publication of the Moscow Patriarchate (Bible. Moscow: Russian Bible Society, 2000) In some cases, the comparison was made based the table borrowed from the Belgian edition of the Holy Scriptures (Bible. Brussels: Life with God, 1983). It is worth noting that, for the goals mentioned above, none of the two tables were acceptable “as is”, for a number of reasons. In this respect, the interpretation of the Gospel narrative about the resurrection of Jesus Christ proved to be the most critical. To solve the apparent conflict, we have used the sequence from the Harmony of the Gospels, quoted in Seraphim Slobodsky’s “The Law of God” (“The Law of God for Families and Schools”. Jordanville: Holy Trinity Monastery, 1967). Based on the analysis of the above mentioned sources, a new table of synoptic parallels was created according to which the following “United Gospel” was drafted.
While working on the “United Gospel”, the issue of chronology was something we could not ignore. This meant not only determining the order of certain events but also their dating. To solve problem with a satisfactory result, we had to made chonological calculations all over again. Such a complex approach to dating of the Gospel events also helped to clarify a number of theological issues and resolve certain problems related to the New Testament Bible studies. For instance, it was clearly seen that Lk 6:1 talks about Pentecost, not Easter.
The above mentioned calculations with commentaries can be found in my book “Biblical Chronology”.
United Gospel

1:1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, (Lk 1:1)
1:2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; (Lk 1:2)
1:3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, (Lk 1:3)
1:4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed. (Lk 1:4)
1:5 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. (Mk 1:1)
1:6 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (Jn 1:1)
1:7 The same was in the beginning with God. (Jn 1:2)
1:8 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (Jn 1:3)
1:9 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (Jn 1:4)
1:10 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. (Jn 1:5)
1:11 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. (Jn 1:6)
1:12 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. (Jn 1:7)
1:13 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. (Jn 1:8)
1:14 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. (Jn 1:9)
1:15 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. (Jn 1:10)
1:16 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. (Jn 1:11)
1:17 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (Jn 1:12)
1:18 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (Jn 1:13)
1:19 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (Jn 1:14)
1:20 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. (Jn 1:15)
1:21 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. (Jn 1:16)
1:22 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. (Jn 1:17)
1:23 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. (Jn 1:18)
UG 2. Genealogy of Jesus Christ (Mt 1:1—17; Lk 3:23b-38)

30:2 Added yet this above all, that himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him, and shut up John in prison. (Mt 14:3; Mk 6:17; Lk 3:20)
30:3 For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife. (Mt 14:4; Mk 6:18)

32:8 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? (Jn 4:11)
32:9 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? (Jn 4:12)
32:10 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: (Jn 4:13)
32:11 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (Jn 4:14)

44:2 And Jesus said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast? Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. (Mt 9:15; Mk 2:19; Lk 5:34)
44:3 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days. (Mt 9:15; Mk 2:20; Lk 5:35)
44:4 And he spake also a parable unto them; no man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old; for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. (Mt 9:16; Mk 2:21; Lk 5:36)
44:5 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. (Mt 9:17; Mk 2:22; Lk 5:37)
44:6 But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. (Mt 9:17; Mk 2:22; Lk 5:38)
44:7 No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better. (Lk 5:39)
Events from Pentecost to second Passover
UG 45. Jesus Christ in Jerusalem on the feast of Pentecost. Healing of the paralytic around the Sheep pool (Jn 5:1—16)
45:1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. (Jn 5:1)
45:2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. (Jn 5:2)
45:3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. (Jn 5:3)
45:4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. (Jn 5:4)
45:5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. (Jn 5:5)
45:6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? (Jn 5:6)
45:7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. (Jn 5:7)
45:8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. (Jn 5:8)
45:9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. (Jn 5:9)
45:10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. (Jn 5:10)
45:11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk. (Jn 5:11)
45:12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? (Jn 5:12)
45:13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. (Jn 5:13)
45:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. (Jn 5:14)
45:15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole. (Jn 5:15)
45:16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. (Jn 5:16)
UG 46. The new message of Jesus Christ about himself (Jn 5:17—47)
46:1 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. (Jn 5:17)
46:2 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. (Jn 5:18)
46:3 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. (Jn 5:19)
46:4 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. (Jn 5:20)
46:5 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. (Jn 5:21)
46:6 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: (Jn 5:22)
46:7 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. (Jn 5:23)
46:8 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (Jn 5:24)
46:9 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. (Jn 5:25)
46:10 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; (Jn 5:26)
46:11 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. (Jn 5:27)
46:12 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, (Jn 5:28)
46:13 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. (Jn 5:29)
46:14 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. (Jn 5:30)
46:15 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. (Jn 5:31)
46:16 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. (Jn 5:32)
46:17 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. (Jn 5:33)
46:18 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. (Jn 5:34)
46:19 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. (Jn 5:35)
46:20 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. (Jn 5:36)
46:21 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. (Jn 5:37)
46:22 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. (Jn 5:38)
46:23 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. (Jn 5:39)
46:24 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. (Jn 5:40)
46:25 I receive not honour from men. (Jn 5:41)
46:26 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. (Jn 5:42)
46:27 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. (Jn 5:43)
46:28 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only? (Jn 5:44)
46:29 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. (Jn 5:45)
46:30 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. (Jn 5:46)
46:31 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words? (Jn 5:47)
UG 47. About the meaning of the sabbath. Pluck the ears of corn (Mt 12:1—8; Mk 2:23—28; Lk 6:1—5)
47:1 And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first [Pentecost], that Jesus went through the corn fields; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat, rubbing them in their hands. (Mt 12:1; Mk 2:23; Lk 6:1)
47:2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day. (Mt 12:2; Mk 2:24; Lk 6:2)
47:3 And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, and they that were with him; (Mt 12:3; Mk 2:25; Lk 6:3)
47:4 How he entered into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone? (Mt 12:4; Mk 2:26; Lk 6:4)
47:5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? (Mt 12:5)
47:6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. (Mt 12:6)
47:7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. (Mt 12:7)
47:8 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: (Mk 2:27; Lk 6:5)
47:9 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. (Mt 12:8; Mk 2:28; Lk 6:5)
UG 48. Healing of the man with withered hand (Mt 12:9—13; Mk 3:1—5; Lk 6:6—10)
48:1 And when he was departed thence, it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: (Mt 12:9; Mk 3:1; Lk 6:6)
48:2 And, behold, there was a man whose right hand was withered. (Mt 12:10; Mk 3:1; Lk 6:6)
48:3 And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether [Jesus] would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him. (Mk 3:2; Lk 6:7)
48:4 And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him. (Mt 12:10)
48:5 But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth. (Mk 3:3; Lk 6:8)
48:6 Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it? But they held their peace. (Mk 3:4; Lk 6:9)
48:7 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? (Mt 12:11)
48:8 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. (Mt 12:12)
48:9 And when he had looked round about on them all with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other. (Mt 12:13; Mk 3:5; Lk 6:10)
UG 49. The pharisees’ anger and the people’s desire for Jesus (Mt 12:14—21; Mk 3:6—12; Lk 6:11)
49:1 And the Pharisees were filled with madness; and then they went out, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus, how they might destroy him. (Mt 12:14; Mk 3:6; Lk 6:11)
49:2 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself with his disciples from thence to the sea: (Mt 12:15; Mk 3:7)
49:3 And great multitudes followed him from Galilee, and from Judaea, (Mt 12:15; Mk 3:7)
49:4 And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him. (Mk 3:8)
49:5 And he healed them all (Mt 12:15)
49:6 And charged them that they should not make him known: (Mt 12:16)
49:7 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, (Mt 12:17)
49:8 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles; (Mt 12:18)
49:9 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets; (Mt 12:19)
49:10 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory; (Mt 12:20)
49:11 And in his name shall the Gentiles trust. (Mt 12:21)
49:12 And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him. (Mk 3:9)
49:13 For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues. (Mk 3:10)
49:14 And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God. (Mk 3:11)
49:15 And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known. (Mk 3:12)
UG 50. The election of 12 apostles (Mt 10:1—4; Mk 3:13—19; Lk 6:12—16)
50:1 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. (Mk 3:13; Lk 6:12)
50:2 And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples whom he would, and they came unto him: (Mk 3:13; Lk 6:13)
50:3 and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles. (Mt 10:1; Mk 3:14; Lk 6:13)
50:4 And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach. (Mk 3:14)
50:5 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast out devils, and power to heal sicknesses, to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. (Mt 10:1; Mk 3:15)
50:6 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; the first, Simon, (whom he also named Peter [Cephas],) (Mt 10:2; Mk 3:16; Lk 6:14)
50:7 And Andrew his brother; (Mt 10:2; Mk 3:18; Lk 6:14)
50:8 And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder; (Mt 10:2; Mk 3:17; Lk 6:14)
50:9 Philip and Bartholomew; (Mt 10:3; Mk 3:18; Lk 6:14)
50:10 Thomas and [Levi] Matthew the publican; (Mt 10:3; Mk 3:18; Lk 6:15)
50:11 James the son of Alphaeus, and (Mt 10:3; Mk 3:18; Lk 6:15)
50:12 Judas (the [son] of James) Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; (Mt 10:3; Mk 3:18; Lk 6:16)
50:13 Simon the Canaanite, called Zelotes, (Mt 10:4; Mk 3:18; Lk 6:15)
50:14 And Judas Iscariot, who also was the traitor, which betrayed him. (Mt 10:4; Mk 3:19; Lk 6:16)
UG 51. Sermon on a mountain (Mt 5:1—7:29; Lk 6:17—49)
51:1 And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; (Lk 6:17)
51:2 And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. (Lk 6:18)

51:5 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, (Mt 5:2; Lk 6:20)
51:6 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of God. (Mt 5:3; Lk 6:20)
51:7 Blessed are they that mourn [and] weep now: for they shall be comforted [and] laugh. (Mt 5:4; Lk 6:21)
51:8 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. (Mt 5:5)
51:9 Blessed are they which do hunger now and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. (Mt 5:6; Lk 6:21)
51:10 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. (Mt 5:7)
51:11 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. (Mt 5:8)
51:12 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. (Mt 5:9)
51:13 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Mt 5:10)
51:14 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. (Mt 5:11; Lk 6:22)
51:15 Rejoice ye in that day, and be exceeding glad: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets which were before you. (Mt 5:12; Lk 6:23)
51:16 But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation. (Lk 6:24)
51:17 Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep. (Lk 6:25)
51:18 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets. (Lk 6:26)
51:19 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. (Mt 5:13)
51:20 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. (Mt 5:14)
51:21 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. (Mt 5:15)
51:22 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Mt 5:16)
51:23 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. (Mt 5:17)
51:24 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. (Mt 5:18)
51:25 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Mt 5:19)
51:26 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Mt 5:20)
51:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: (Mt 5:21)
51:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. (Mt 5:22)
51:29 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; (Mt 5:23)
51:30 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. (Mt 5:24)
51:31 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. (Mt 5:25)
51:32 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing. (Mt 5:26)
51:33 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: (Mt 5:27)
51:34 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. (Mt 5:28)
51:35 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. (Mt 5:29)
51:36 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. (Mt 5:30)
51:37 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: (Mt 5:31)
51:38 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. (Mt 5:32)
51:39 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: (Mt 5:33)
51:40 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: (Mt 5:34)
51:41 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. (Mt 5:35)
51:42 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. (Mt 5:36)
51:43 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. (Mt 5:37)
51:44 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: (Mt 5:38)
51:45 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn [and] offer to him the other also. (Mt 5:39; Lk 6:29)
51:46 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. (Mt 5:40; Lk 6:29)
51:47 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. (Mt 5:41)
51:48 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. (Mt 5:42; Lk 6:30)
51:49 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. (Lk 6:31)
51:50 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. (Mt 5:43)
51:51 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you; (Mt 5:44; Lk 6:27)
51:52 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. (Mt 5:44; Lk 6:28)
51:53 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. (Mt 5:45)
51:54 For if ye love them which love you, what thank [or] reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? for sinners also love those that love them. (Mt 5:46; Lk 6:32)
51:55 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. (Lk 6:33)
51:56 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. (Lk 6:34)
51:57 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. (Lk 6:35)
51:58 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. (Lk 6:36)
51:59 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? (Mt 5:47)
51:60 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Mt 5:48)
51:61 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. (Mt 6:1)
51:62 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (Mt 6:2)
51:63 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: (Mt 6:3)
51:64 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. (Mt 6:4)
51:65 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (Mt 6:5)
51:66 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. (Mt 6:6)
51:67 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. (Mt 6:7)
51:68 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. (Mt 6:8)
51:69 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. (Mt 6:9)
51:70 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. (Mt 6:10)
51:71 Give us this day our daily bread. (Mt 6:11)
51:72 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. (Mt 6:12)
51:73 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (Mt 6:13)
51:74 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: (Mt 6:14)
51:75 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (Mt 6:15)
51:76 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. (Mt 6:16)
51:77 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; (Mt 6:17)
51:78 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly. (Mt 6:18)
51:79 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: (Mt 6:19)
51:80 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: (Mt 6:20)
51:81 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Mt 6:21)
51:82 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. (Mt 6:22)
51:83 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! (Mt 6:23)
51:84 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. (Mt 6:24)
51:85 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? (Mt 6:25)
51:86 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? (Mt 6:26)
51:87 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? (Mt 6:27)
51:88 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: (Mt 6:28)
51:89 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. (Mt 6:29)
51:90 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? (Mt 6:30)
51:91 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (Mt 6:31)
51:92 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. (Mt 6:32)
51:93 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Mt 6:33)
51:94 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. (Mt 6:34)
51:95 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: (Mt 7:1; Lk 6:37)
51:96 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged. (Mt 7:2)
51:97 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. (Mt 7:2; Lk 6:38)
51:98 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? (Lk 6:39)
51:99 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. (Lk 6:40)
51:100 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? (Mt 7:3; Lk 6:41)
51:101 Or either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote out of thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? (Mt 7:4; Lk 6:42)
51:102 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye. (Mt 7:5; Lk 6:42)
51:103 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. (Matthew 7:6). (Mt 7:6)
51:104 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: (Mt 7:7)
51:105 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. (Mt 7:8)
51:106 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? (Mt 7:9)
51:107 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? (Mt 7:10)
51:108 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? (Mt 7:11)
51:109 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. (Mt 7:12)
51:110 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: (Mt 7:13)
51:111 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Mt 7:14)
51:112 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. (Mt 7:15)
51:113 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? (Mt 7:16)
51:114 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. (Mt 7:17)
51:115 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. (Mt 7:18; Lk 6:43)
51:116 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. (Lk 6:44)
51:117 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. (Mt 7:19)
51:118 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. (Mt 7:20)
51:119 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. (Lk 6:45)
51:120 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? (Lk 6:46)
51:121 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (Mt 7:21)
51:122 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (Mt 7:22)
51:123 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Mt 7:23)
51:124 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: (Mt 7:24; Lk 6:47)
51:125 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: (Mt 7:24; Lk 6:48)
51:126 And when the rain descended, and the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it; and when the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. (Mt 7:25; Lk 6:48)
51:127 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand without a foundation: (Mt 7:26; Lk 6:49)
51:128 And the rain descended, and the floods came, which the stream did beat vehemently, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and immediately it fell: and the ruin of that house was great. (Mt 7:27; Lk 6:49)
51:129 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: (Mt 7:28)
51:130 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. (Mt 7:29)

52:9 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. (Mt 8:7)
52:10 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: (Mt 8:8; Lk 7:6)
52:11 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. (Mt 8:8; Lk 7:7)
52:12 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. (Mt 8:9; Lk 7:8)
52:13 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. (Mt 8:10; Lk 7:9)
52:14 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. (Mt 8:11)
52:15 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Mt 8:12)
52:16 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. (Mt 8:13)
52:17 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick. (Lk 7:10)

53:7 And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about. (Lk 7:17)
UG 54. The message of Jesus Christ about himself and John the Baptist before the disciples of John (Mt 11:2—19; Lk 7:18—35)
54:1 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, [for] the disciples of John shewed him of all these things, (Mt 11:2; Lk 7:18)
54:2 And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, (Mt 11:2; Lk 7:19)
54:3 saying unto him, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? (Mt 11:3; Lk 7:19)
54:4 When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? (Lk 7:20)
