логично и последовательно излагать свои мысли;

полно и точно отвечать на три вопроса, заданных вашим зарубежным другом;

применять подходящую лексику и выражения для передачи своих идей;

использовать средства связи между предложениями для создания плавных переходов;

Subject: School Clubs

…Our teacher has announced that a Theatre Group is starting next month. I’m going to join the club and see if I enjoy being on stage.

…What do you do after your classes? What club in your school is the most interesting, why do you think so? How long does it take you to do your homework?…

Write a message to Ann and answer her questions. Write 100–120 words. Remember the rules of email writing.

Dear Ann,

Thanks for your recent email. Great to hear from you!

In your letter you’ve asked me what I do after classes. Well, I usually do my homework, play sports, or spend time with friends. Also, I attend our Robotics Club which I think is the most interesting because it allows students to create and experiment with technology. This club may prepare them for future careers in engineering or programming, too. As for my homework, it usually takes me around two hours to finish everything, though sometimes it can take longer if there are difficult tasks.

That’s all for now. Hope to hear from you soon.

Best wishes,

Subject: Exams

…After taking my school exams, I want to study English literature at university. Some people say that it is boring and it takes too much time, but I really like it.

…How many exams are you going to take this year? How do you prepare for your English exam? Do you like to take exams, why or why not?…

Write a message to Ann and answer her questions. Write 100–120 words. Remember the rules of email writing.

Dear Ann,

Thank you for your email! It’s great to hear about your plans to study English literature. I think that’s so interesting!

In your letter you asked me about my school exams. Well, this year I am going to take four exams — Maths, Russian, Physics, and English. Preparing for the English exam is a bit challenging but fun. I practise reading comprehension and writing letters. Also, I try to speak more with friends in English to boost my confidence. Taking exams can be stressful, I don’t like it. However, exams help me see how much I’ve learned. Still, I prefer projects or presentations because they’re less nerve-wracking.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Subject: The life of modern teenagers

…I am doing a project about the life of modern teenagers in different countries. I’d like to know about Russian teenagers.

…What time do you usually come back from school? What do you like to do in your free time? How many foreign languages would you like to speak, and why?…

Write a message to Ann and answer her 3 questions. Write 100–120 words. Remember the rules of email writing.

Dear Ann,

Thanks for your message. Great to hear from you!

In your email you’ve asked me about the life of modern Russian teenagers. Well, I usually come back from school at around 3 PM, though sometimes it’s later if I stay for extra classes or club activities. In my free time I enjoy playing video games, watching movies, and meeting friends — it’s a great way to relax after a busy day. As for foreign languages, I’d like to speak two more besides English, such as German and Spanish, because knowing different languages helps me understand other cultures and opens up more opportunities for travel and work.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Subject: Coming late

Last month I was late for my classes several times. Though I wasn’t late on purpose and it wasn’t actually my fault. I was punished.

…Do any students in your class sometimes come too late to school? What are their usual reasons for coming late? Is there any punishment for late comers at your school and what is it?…

Write a message to Emily and answer her questions. Write 100–120 words. Remember the rules of email writing.

Dear Emily,

Thanks for your email. Great to hear from you!

In your letter you’ve asked me about students coming late to school. Well, some students in my class do come late sometimes. The usual reasons are traffic jams, missing the bus, or waking up late. As for the punishment for late comers, our school has a strict policy — students who are late must stay after classes for extra cleaning duty or write an apology letter to the headteacher. Personally, I think it’s fair because being on time is important.

Subject: Learning foreign languages

…They say it’s never too late to learn something new. My Grandma decided to prove that and took up a course of French! And she absolutely loves it!

…What do you find most difficult in learning English? What do you do to improve your English outside the classroom? What’s the best way to learn a foreign language?…

Write a message to Andrew and answer his questions. Write 100–120 words. Remember the rules of email writing.

Dear Andrew,

Thanks for writing to me. I was very glad to hear from you again!

In your letter you’ve asked me about learning English. Well, I find grammar the most difficult part — it’s so complex sometimes! To improve my English outside the classroom, I watch movies and series in English with subtitles, read short stories, and listen to podcasts. I also speak with friends or use language apps. As for the best way to learn a language, it is by practising every day. You can watch movies, listen to music, or talk to people in that language. It’s also good to use apps or take classes. The most important thing is to stay consistent and have fun while learning!

Looking forward to your email.

Love,

Dear Ben,

Great to hear from you again!

In your letter you’ve asked me about learning foreign languages. Well, at school I learn English and German. I’d love to try Spanish because it sounds beautiful and is spoken in many countries — it could be useful for traveling. As for your choice of Japanese, I think it’s awesome! If you’re passionate about Japanese cartoons, then it’s definitely worth it. Plus, their writing system is unique and fascinating. Good luck with your studies!

Dear Ann,

Thanks for your message. Great to hear from you!

In your letter you asked me about my future profession. Well, I began making plans for the future in the 7th grade when we started learning more advanced topics in school. It made me think about what I truly enjoy doing. I’m really good at Math and Computers — they’re my favorite subjects because I enjoy solving problems and working with technology. That’s why I’d love to become a game developer in the future because it combines creativity and programming which I find fascinating. Moreover, creating games seems like a fun way to express ideas and entertain people.

Dear Ben,

Thanks for your message. Great to hear from you again!

In your letter you’ve asked me some questions. I’m ready to answer them now. I can say that I usually follow news websites and social media to learn about what’s happening in the world. It’s fast and convenient. Speaking of my future plans, I want to become a software developer because I love programming and solving problems.
