But adults, it’s hard for adults to hold on to that moment. That moment of reunion with that place, that place that still holds their most cherished and brightest dreams. No matter what happens, someone loves us very much, someone cares for us very much. Even if we have misbehaved this year, trying to teach us, to save us, to keep us warm....At the very last moment, … gives us a second chance, a chance to receive a gift. A chance to correct, prevent, or at least make amends. To those you’ve wronged.

For betraying this place once. For cutting your ties to magic and gradually turning into a vicious, cynical, and vile dwarf who becomes more and more like a filthy clown for his own amusement. He will laugh and laugh, causing harm to others, but his heart is drenched in tears. And with each passing year, the light in his soul will grow dimmer and dimmer until it is extinguished forever.

Once the light is out, there’s no saving him.
